About the Artist
Born in Germany, Siggy Puchta came to Canada in 1953 at the age of nineteen.
Son of a woodcarver, he took an early interest in the art of modeling and sculpturing.
Committed to capturing the action and beauty of his subjects, he is driven to keep creating sculptures whether they are in wood, stone or bronze.
Member of the Sculptors Society of Canada since 1965, he held several solo and group exhibitions in Canada as well as in Mexico, USA, Bahamas, Hungary, Portugal.
Among the most prestigious works done over the years:
seven large Canada Geese for the Blue Waterbridge Authority in Samia, Ontario;
a eight foot bronze Police Officers for the Ontario Police Memorial at Queens Park in Toronto;
a seven and a half foot statue of Serbian World War II Hero in the city of Hamilton, Ontario.
