About the Artist (Français)
Born on a farm near Châtellerault in the Loire region of France, Catherine Perdreau lives in Canada from 1965.
Perdreau's art is an expression of simplicity of children and of the beauty of children at play.
Her enchanted landscapes show youngsters of all races and nationalities enjoying their daily life or engaged in various humane activities:
freeing whales trapped in fishing nets or birds caught in oil slicks, bringing food to victims of famine, putting out forest
fires, feeding animals, cleaning up pollution, watering the desert, spreading flowers over the surface of the earth.
The landscapes themselves are divided up into small parcels of land, each of them containing flora and fauna that denote
the different countries of the world: luxuriant greenery in one small segment of canvas is likely to abut a patch of yellow desert dotted with cacti.
Catherine, also a successful portrait and animal painter, has held a number of solo exhibitions in Canada and France and has contributed to several group exhibitions.
Her works may be found in collections in France, Canada, USA, Great Britain, Australia and Japan.
