About the Artist
Born in Varna, Bulgaria, Michael Nedkov shows his passion for painting at seven - he creates his first drawings using toothpaste.
He studies in Sofia, attending the High School of Fine Art. In 1973 he graduates with Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1974 he wins his first major poster competition, establishing himself as one of the leading graphic designers in Bulgaria.
In 1982 Michael has his first solo exhibition at the Sofia Theatre, showcasing works in oil and ceramic. He introduces an innovative
ceramic technique which is an instant success and the artist receives a lot of recognition for it.
He continues to exhibit his works nationally and internationally keeping a strong pace through the early nineties. His openings often
gather a good amount of publicity - both in print and on TV. He is also included in the "Who's Who" book of Bulgaria.
In 1997 Michael moves to Los Angeles, California, where he exhibits in a number of West Coast galleries. His work is received very well and in
2003 some of it is published in the April edition of Carmel Magazine, and the Bulgarian newspaper "Sunday".
In 2004 Michael decides to relocate again, this time to Canada. Here he continues to work and inspire his public.
