About the Artist (Italiano)
The professional training of Sculptor Maria Molteni ranges from scientific studies to psychology, music and sculpture. She graduated in pianoforte at the Conservatory of Parma and has been associated with a rich artistic sphere.
She participated to thematic and collective national and international exhibitions. At the end of 2005 she set up her solo exhibition at the Basilica of Sant' Ambrogio Museum, Oratory of the Passion, in Milan and, in 2006, the Schubert Gallery of Milan presents her personal exhibition dedicated to her most recent bronze castings.
The sobriety of Molteni's work and her artistic sensibility have been influenced by a familiar figure: her father-in-law Angelo Casati, interpreter of the evocative course of the Italian sculpture from the Thirties to the Sixties. When her father-in-law died, Molteni gave space to her own creative genius.
Her bursting universe of emotions and pulsations is accessible to all thanks to her modeling of clay and bronze casting. The details are emphasized and attract the attention thanks to the patina that enriches the thin shapes with elegant golden hemmings, giving prominence to the play of light and shadow, full and empty.
