About the Artist

Sculptor Marion Lea Jamieson graduated from the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design) where she studied 3D design & fabrication. At the same time she studied dance and pursued a dance career for many years. After retiring from the stage, she worked as a commercial illustrator for over a decade, finally returning to sculpture in 1996.

For the past three years, Marion has been using concrete as a medium. A number of her concrete works have been installed in various locations in the State of Washington such as in downtown Issaquah, the Bellingham Public Library, the Big Rock Sculpture Garden in Bellingham, Wescott Bay Sculpture Park on San Juan Island and Monarch Park Sculpture Garden in Olympia.

Marion Jamieson also works in steel. She designed and fabricated a 16' high monumental steel and resin sculpture for the front of City Hall in Kelowna, British Columbia.

She has participated in exhibitions across Canada and in the northwestern US and is also a regular participant in the Peace Arch Park International Sculpture Exhibition in Blain. In June 2006, she traveled to the city of Zhengzhou, China, to participate in an international sculpture exhibition there.
