About the Artist
Born Germany, where he trained at the Academy of Fine Arts,
Rolf Harder came to Canada and, in 1959, he opened a graphic design office in Montreal.
He was awarded major graphic design assignments from governments, institutions and industry and his work is recognized throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia.
He is represented in permanent collections in Canada (National Archives), USA, England, Germany, France and Australia. Harder has painted throughout his career as a graphic designer and has had several one-man shows. He also participated in a number of national and international group exhibitions.
He is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale and a Fellow of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada.
He was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1974.
In his works he explores people's identity and interplay.
