About the Artist

Sculptor Lucile Driskell is a native of New York and a graduate of Finch College, Manhattan, with additional courses at the La Jolla Museum of Art. The artist lived in Italy for 7 years working closely with a foundry in Pietrasanta.

In recent years she studied printmaking with Michael Ponce de Leon at the Art Students League in New York, where she is a life member. She is a subject of biographical record in the current editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the World.

Sculpture is her primary medium of expression. Her first interest was direct carving in marble and granite, but gradually shifted to bronze casting. Some of her recent work has been in wood or a combination of wood and metal. Several designs have been created for large outdoor sculpture. She became interested in woodblock printing as a natural extension of sculptural shapes and also colorful wall reliefs and paintings have been added to her repertoire. She has had two solo shows in New York, three in Philadelphia and one in Wellsboro, PA., plus many group shows. Her sculpture and prints have been selected for a variety of juried shows.

The Rodger LaPelle Gallery in Philadelphia and the Amsterdam Whitney International Fine Art Gallery in New York represent her work. Her art is enjoyed in many private collections and corporate offices such as Exxon, Macy's and Dupont. The Woodmere Art Museum, Philadelphia, has a Driskell sculpture in their permanent collection. She currently has a home and sculpture studio in Wellsboro, PA and an apartment/studio in Philadelphia.
